Book Collections

Photography books

Since 1990 Chadwyck-Healey has made a large collection of ‘photo books’, books that are important because of the photographs in them. This collection combines lifelong interests in books and in photography.

The Chadwyck-Healey Liberation Collection 1944-1946

In 2001 Chadwyck-Healey started to make a collection of books published in French, mainly in France, from the Liberation of Paris in August 1944 to the end of 1946, on the subjects of the War, the Occupation and the Liberation. In 2012 he donated the collection to Cambridge University Library. The collection is continuing to be added to and will be accompanied by an on-line bibliography. The exhibition above is the first exhibition to be held of books from this period on these subjects.
